Wisdom from God

I think it is important that I take a stance on the issue of the "church" in Gainesville Florida that plans to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday. I am 100% against this horrible plan. The pastor has gone back and forth on this, I hope that he finally chooses wisely.

Christ himself came to this earth to destroy the work of the enemy and to win a victory for those of us who were lost in our sins. He did this by loving people and standing up for the oppressed. He didn't attempt to burn their things or destroy them. He did speak directly to them about what was displeasing to Him. He also withdrew often to pray for people.

The argument is made that other religions burn Bibles so why shouldn't we burn the Quran. Let's take a minute and think about this. The reason people burn the Bible is because it is truth and they don't want people to know the truth. For almost 2000 years people have been trying to destroy Christianity. The Word of God tells us that Christianity will never be blotted out and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it.

As a Christian I believe that the battles we need to fight over these matters is fought on our face before God. We need to plead God's truth over those who are lost and anti Christianity. We are to love one another whether they agree with us or not. There is nothing to be gained by sinking to the level of those who seek to destroy Christianity.

Finally the Bible, God's Word to mankind, tells us to seek wisdom from God! My question is: If many many Christian leaders, both men and women, seek God for wisdom and know this is the wrong thing to do, why would one lone pastor think he has all the knowledge? My guess is he has not heard from God.

Lets hope and pray that God moves mightily on this man's heart. Let's all be sure to pray for this pastor and for those who are lost and confused. Prayer is where we fight our battles.
