I am not a movie lover at all, but I am someone that really enjoys watching sports. The reason I don't like most movies is that they often have a very predictable Hollywood ending. I am not interested in going to movies that have only warm and fuzzy endings. If you enjoy movies, please don't take my views personally.
The reason I love to watch sports is that anything can happen. A game can be going in one direction and on one play the whole course or outcome of the game can change. It is also unpredictable, no matter how much you believe a team will win there are no guarantees.
Why have this discussion? We all know that some of the decisions we make will have predictable outcomes. For instance if a child never has any boundaries the outcome is predictable. It is that way unless the game changes and that child has a moment when someone steps in and changes the course of their life.
We also know that children and teens that are abandoned by their parents have a very hard time being successful in life. Each one of those kids will experience added struggles. If someone invests in that persons life things can change.
One more area of predictability is the use of drugs and alcohol at a young age makes it so much harder for that child/teen to be able to get their education and be successful. Often that person cannot change their future unless there is some sort of intervention. Sometimes that is by people, but the greatest interventionist is Jesus.
For some reason Hollywood is not really interested in showing how Jesus can impact a persons life. You and I know different! When Jesus impacts our lives, no matter what script has been laid out for us by our choices, situations change. He is the ultimate change maker!
We can enjoy our movies or enjoy our sports, but don't become so busy in either one that you and I neglect the Hero of our Faith.
