Powerful day of ministry

Yesterday was a powerful day of ministry. We had seven conversations with people experiencing various degrees of challenges post hurricane.


I want to focus on one particular family. We went to the home of two elderly folks, in their early eighties. They had almost two feet of water in their house and were very discouraged. They had been able to strip away some of the damaged walls and were sitting in their "living room" which consisted of four kitchen chairs.


They had experienced many tragedies over the last four years and the lady, Jean was especially discouraged. Her husband Ivany was a bit more optimistic but they were certainly overwhelmed.


Jack and I spent some time just listening and were able to minister to them in their hurt. We also felt clearly led to share with them about God's love and Christ's forgiveness. We illustrated how God loved them and Christ's sacrifice in very practical ways. We shared what it meant to be born again, and they truly understood for the first time in their lives. We told them that they could have God's peace in their lives today.


Jack and I were able to lead them in a prayer of salvation and both Jean and Ivany gave their hearts to Christ in their shattered living room.


God is good!
