I want to present you with a scenario so you can better understand what hurricanes do. Think about 8"-9" of rain falling in just a short period of time. The water comes down and saturates the ground so that the ground begins to bubble up with water, water comes out of manholes an other places. What was once a stream becomes a raging river.
Whenever you have a raging river going through a residential area you have chaos. Roads are washed away, houses many miles from the coast begin to have their basements fill with water. If you live in a bungalow your main floor level becomes unlivable.
How could these homeowners possibly plan for what they experienced? They couldn't!!! Many people begin to second guess their judgement, after all they think, we should have known. They become confused, thinking that they do not have proper judgement. It begins to take over their thinking.
As hurricane relief teams come in they bring hope. Hope comes in different ways. It can be having someone come in and mud out their basement or home. It can be having someone come in and listen to their story. It can come when we pray for people. It can come when we cry with them.
Hurricanes are devastating!
