Yesterday we went to the home of a family to spend time with them praying for their needs and encouraging them. They turned out to be the grandparents of NHL hockey player Michael Ryder and former major junior MVP Daniel Ryder.
We talked about many things but my heart was drawn to their grandson Daniel who has been experiencing deep problems. It is cool how God drops some important things to intercede for right in our path. I felt clearly directed from the Lord to pray with the family for Daniel's situation.
Earlier in our conversation Melvin, the grandfather, had showed us a hockey card of Daniel and had given us two of Michaels cards to keep. He told me this was the last card he had of Daniel so he couldn't give me one. After I had prayed for Daniel, with tears in his eyes, Melvin walked over to the place where he had placed Daniel's hockey card and came back and gave it to me. He said he wanted me to have it. I promised him that I would pray for Daniel everyday.
Pray for us today as we are trying to schedule a meeting with Daniel later this afternoon. We want to encourage him and his family.
