As I was standing there talking with them a mom and daughter walked up. The mom was probably in her late thirties and her daughter was in her mid teens. They were both completely stoned, and staggering. They looked like the type of people that have had nothing but hurt in their lives. They were both so desperate.
How will they survive? My guess is that they will survive by being exploited. You could see the pain in their eyes. Hopelessness. Despair. Agony.
I would so love to be able to help them. They left and disappeared into the crowd of other hopeless and desperate people.
Just down the road from them I came across another young girl. She had been promised a great life by her boyfriend. He had brought her to Vancouver with great dreams. Soon after she was dumped by her boyfriend. Now she was on the streets with a sign that read, "Hungry, Homeless and getting over the flu."
God continues to break my heart for teens that are so lost and confused. My prayer is that somehow He will penetrate their lives. After all they are somebodies daughters and they are His beautiful creation.
