Missionaries in Haiti

I am sure many of you have been following the ongoing challenges the 10 "missionaries" detained by the Haitian authorities have been dealing with. I am not going to judge them, that is up for the courts to do. I do have some thoughts on what has happened, at least what is being reported.
  • I believe the best way to help Haitian children is to do it within their own country. As Christians we need to provide proper assistance to people and children in a way that they can be near their families.
  • It would never be ok, to take people and especially children and teens, out of the country without proper paperwork. Think about this, even if the group got the children out of the country, then how would they ever get proper paperwork. The children would then become children without an identity.
  • I think most of those on the trip had a pure heart for what they were doing. They really wanted to help the children. They clearly did not know all that was being done by the leader.
  • I think this story has taken away from the overall need in Haiti which is sad.
  • We need to pray for those in jail who were trying to be God's hands and feet.
  • There are hundreds of other missionaries who are doing a tremendous work in Haiti without controversy
I do not want to be critical, I want to remind us all to pray for the people in Haiti. The children need our prayers and we need to continue to find ways to bless those in need.

Remember it is not our place to judge. It is our responsibility to pray!!! I am sure that the families of those in jail are hearing lots of condemnation but that is not what they need. they need prayer.
